This audiovisual presentation tells the story of Stanley Edwards' WWII experience on D-Day and the year following as he struggled to survive in enemy territory, his escapes from the Nazis in occupied France, and his eventual capture and struggles in a German prison camp. Julie brings the story alive using historic photographs and a professionally produced video that includes an interview with Mr. Edwards.
Great for school visits, veterans’ clubs, and libraries, this program can be tailored for any age, from middle school to adults. The time frame is flexible, based on your needs.

- Wax sculptor Patience Wright and her artistic family: Betsy, Joseph and Phoebe
- Ebenezer Smith Platt: Revolutionary supporter and supplier, he was the first American arrested for treason after America declared independence. Married Betsy Wright.
- Benjamin Franklin: Signer of the Declaration of Independence and, as ambassador to France, largely responsible for forging the critical military alliance with France.
- Polly Stevenson Hewson: Daughter of Benjamin Franklin’s London landlord, she considered Franklin a father figure.
- King George III: King of England who imposed unpopular taxes on tea and other goods imported to the American colonies. Rebellion against these taxes were the seeds of the Revolution. Patience Wright was commissioned to render his image in wax.
- Queen Charlotte: Britain’s queen, also sculpted by Patience Wright.
- Lord North: Britain’s prime minister. Responsible for the Intolerable Acts, harsh punishment for the Boston Tea Party.
- Lord Pitt: A member of Parliament sympathetic to the American cause.
- Benjamin West: An American artist who became “the King’s Painter,” he was responsible for Patience Wright’s commission to sculpt the Kind and Queen.
- Paul Revere: A Boston silversmith and express rider (or courier) for the Boston Committee of Correspondence. An active member of the Sons of Liberty. Known for his ride to alert Minutemen of an impending British raid on colonial arms.
